Greater Bay Area Smart City Technology Summit
On 16-17 Jan 2020, Greater Bay Area Smart City Science and Technology Summit was held in Macau and Hengqin New Area, China. The summit was jointly initiated by Watte Technology and The University of Macau, co-organized by Zhuhai Da Heng Qin Development Company Limited. Guests of Honour Dr. Carter Tseng, internationally renowned scientist; Song Yonghua, Rector of The University of Macau; and Li Wei, Director of Commerce Department of Hengqin New Area have made the opening speeches. Other guests of Honour Joe Liu, Director of Macau Pass S.A.; Meng Ping, deputy general manager of Zhuhai Huafa Zhuao Development Company Limited, and corporate leaders of Fortune Techgroup, Pakingtek and oTHE Technology etc., have also shared their insights of smart city development.

With the theme of “All-in-sync with Smart City”, we invited well-known technology entrepreneurs and experts from the Greater China Region to explore ways of industrializing AI and AIoT projects in the 5G era, boosting Macau's industrial upgrading and diversified development. As the main convener of the summit, Neilson Lo, CEO of Watte Technology, shared his insights on Macau's future and elaborated the necessity of integration of smart technologies with a thematic speech “Deepen Zhuhai-Macau Collaboration, Build Smart Eco-community”. Neilson believes that “Macau's future will be affected by its single economy pattern. Solutions to deepen the pool of talents and develop high-tech industries are urgently needed, and the answer must be working closely with our mother country. A new development path can be found only when talents from across the country working together to build the smart city at Hengqin.”
The summit, as a starting point towards the goal to launch Macau-made high-tech products in the next decade, has successfully built a platform for cultural and technological exchange between experts of AIot, real estate finance and business leaders among Greater China Region, Portuguese-speaking and other Western countries, contributing to the development of high-tech industries across Hengqin New Area and Macau and the establishment of Hengqin smart city.
